Features New 28mm Lens with Wider View The Canon PowerShot S60 breaks new ground and first introduce truly compact digital camera with the equivalent of a 28mm wide-angle lens. Compared to other compact digitals, the PowerShot S60's wider view will allow buildings, trade-show exhibits and other large-scale subjects to be more easily captured. It's also great for group shots of family gatherings, or whenever shooting in a confined space. The new 3.6x optical zoom lens covers the range from 28mm wide-angle to 100mm telephoto with the touch of the power zoom lever. A new and improved Macro function allows sharp focusing on objects as close as 4cm from the camera. An optional teleconverter extends the powerful zoom range to 200mm, and 4.1x digital zoom is also provided, giving the user nearly 15x total zoom power to reach out across vast distances and bring objects up close. Information from the CCD is processed by Canon's proprietary DIGIC imaging processor, assuring sharp images with faithful colour reproduction, low noise and short processing times allowing continuous shooting at up to 2 fps. New Exterior Slim Design Improves Form and Function The overall design and outlook of the PowerShot S60 identifies it immediately as part of Canon's "S" series. Compared with previous models, it is thinner and lighter, making it easier to handle and carry. A redesigned sliding lens cover protects the camera and lens and provides a Power On/Off function. When closed, the PowerShot S60 has the smooth appearance of an oval-shaped capsule, ready to drop into a coat pocket or attached case without additional protection. Functional improvements include a larger zoom control lever, a new omni-selector with center-positioned SET button, and a new control button layout. Start-up time has been reduced, and all functions can be reset with a single touch. 13 Shooting Modes and 6 Photo Effects PowerShot S60 provides users with 13 shooting modes, including Auto, Tv, Av, M, C in the Auto, Creative Zone, and Portrait, Landscape, Night Scene, Flash Shutter, Slow Shutter, Stitch Assist, Movie in the Image Zone. By rotating the menu plate on the camera, users can freely capture their favorite images. Also, there are 6 kinds of photo effects for users to choose from. They are Vivid, Neutral, Low Sharpening, Sepia, Black & White, and Custom. With fabulous photo effects, every piece of photo will add a touch to unforgettable moments. Advanced Capabilities Easy to carry and easy to use, the PowerShot S60 has many features and functions including 9-point AiAF, single-point autofocus, full manual control of exposure and manual focus. Shutter speed range has been extended to 15 to 1/2000th second. Users can select from 4 quality modes plus RAW mode, the largest image size being 2592 x 1944 pixels. Simultaneous recording of RAW + JPEG images is possible, with the user being able to specify the embedded JPEG image size for the first time. In addition to still photos, the PowerShot S60 can record motion and sound VGA-size movies for up to 3 minutes' duration. In-camera editing of audio and video is possible using the built-in LCD screen and speaker. Underwater White Balance The PowerShot S60 introduces a new "underwater" setting, which can automatically adjust its colour temperature for shooting in this bluish and variable environment. The wide range of AWB options also include TTL auto, Pre-set (Daylight, Cloudy, Tungsten, Fluorescent, Fluorescent H, Flash, Underwater), and Custom. There are 3 metering patterns, exposure compensation, and an Intelligent Orientation Senor for high precision AF, AE, AWB and automatic "heads-up" display of images on the bright 1.8-inch TFT LCD during playback and transfer. Easy Printing Using Print/Share Button The PowerShot S60 likes all Canon digital cameras, features direct printing without a computer. It equips a new Print/Share button which lights up blue when the camera is connected to a printer* to indicate the user can simply press the button to initiate printing. When connected to a Canon CP printer, ID photo print mode allows users to make ID-photo-size prints by cropping and printing to the desired size. To meet market needs, the PowerShot S60 offers a selection of 28 sizes for countries around the world. Movie print mode prints a series of still images from recorded movies. When connected to a Canon CP printer, the PowerShot S60 automatically calculates the interval based on the length of the movies and the number of still images required to fill the print size selected. Direct transfer (Window only) allows users to send images to computer simply by pressing the Print/Share button. Different types of transfers can be selected from the image transfer menu. New Battery, Optional Accessories The PowerShot S60 is supplied with a new, NB-2LH high-capacity rechargeable lithium-ion battery with a capacity of 720mAh for increased shooting capacity on a single charge. An optional new Waterproof Case WP-DC40 allows swimming or diving with the PowerShot S60 to a depth of 40 meters. An optional Tele-converter TC-DC10 extends the maximum focal length of the optical zoom lens to 200mm. A Lens Adapter LA-DC10 is included for mounting the Tele-converter and filters. An optional Wireless Controller allows remote shooting and playback of images on the PowerShot S60. The controller can be set for shutter release delays of 0 sec., 2 sec., and 10 sec., depending on user preference.
